Sonant 1.1.2 is the current version, released 13 September 2026. Direct downloads update themselves through the app; the Setapp edition updates through Setapp. Older versions are listed below, newest first.
1.1.2
Rebuilt for the new macOS menu bar. Title format and fit-to-title options, faster artwork, punchier visualizer. No analytics. Sonant is now published by Soluneal.
1.1.1
Sonant 1.1.1 - Build fix.
Fixes a packaging mistake in 1.1.0 that prevented launch on macOS 14 and 15. The compiler had been pinning the binary to the SDK's own version (macOS 26) instead of the documented 14.2 minimum, so the macOS loader on older systems was rejecting the app before it could start.
Same features as 1.1.0 - no behavior changes, no migration. This is purely a build correctness fix. Sorry for the trouble.
1.1.0
Sonant 1.1.0 - Major update.
- New Settings window with five sections - Customization, Widget, General, Accounts, About. Everything that used to live at the bottom of the right-click menu now has a dedicated home one click away.
- New always-on widget. A floating Liquid Glass panel that shows the now-playing track wherever you drag it. Toggle artwork, title, artist, progress bar, transport buttons, and the current lyric line independently. Quick-toggle from the menu, full controls in Settings → Widget.
- Customizable global keyboard shortcuts. Change ⌘⇧ Space / ⌘⇧ ← / ⌘⇧ → to any chord, or disable them entirely. Settings → General → Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Pill is now configurable. Hide the album art, visualizer, transport buttons, or track title independently. The pill width auto-shrinks to match what you've left visible.
- Right-click menu can be trimmed. Hide Up Next, Love / Suggest Less, Audio Sources, Power Mode, Listening Stats, and Recently Played sections individually.
- Lyrics ribbon now line-wise, with a smooth Apple-Music-style slide between lines.
- Cleaner rounded corners on the right-click menu and Now Playing preview - the shadow halo now traces the rounded shape exactly.
- Many small fixes: progress bar in the widget actually scrubs, hover animations on all transport buttons, smoother window backgrounds against bright wallpapers.
1.0.9
New: Power Mode (Low Power, Normal, Power User) with full settings panel - and Sonant now follows macOS's own Low Power Mode automatically. Refreshed onboarding, license, and about windows. Added a Remove License option to free your activation slot when moving to another Mac. Big energy improvements: real-time updates from Music and Spotify replace per-second polling, the visualizer was rewritten for smoother and lighter rendering, and idle audio capture now stops cleanly. Existing trials and licenses are preserved.
1.0.8
Permissions onboarding fixes: Apple Music and Spotify access can now be granted independently (and even when neither app is open). Cards show a checkmark + Change button once granted. Refresh logic also fixed so the Apple Music permission prompt actually fires when both apps are running. Removed the misleading Accessibility card - Sonant doesn't need it.
1.0.7
Tightens the build pipeline to pass codesign --verify --deep --strict cleanly. No functional change - fixes a Sparkle nested-bundle xattr race that caused strict signature verification to fail.
1.0.6
Big energy improvements: visualizer no longer redraws when idle, audio sampler reduced to 30Hz, audio capture auto-pauses when music isn't playing. Activity Monitor energy impact drops dramatically.
1.0.5
Real-time live audio visualizer (opt-in, off by default - turn on from onboarding or right-click menu). New onboarding card explains what it does. Bumps minimum macOS to 14.2 for the CoreAudio process tap. Smoother bar animation, lower max bar height, dB+adaptive normalization.
1.0.4
First-run setup now asks for permission to send anonymous usage data. Existing users keep their previous choice.
1.0.3
Update prompt now appears on every launch (Install / Remind Me Later / Skip This Version).
1.0.2
Fixes a Sparkle versioning bug that caused the update prompt to keep reappearing after installing.
1.0.1
Adds anonymous usage pings (opt-out from menu), better keyboard support in license window, and dark-mode fix. Auto-update enabled via Sparkle.
1.0.0
Initial release. Glass-style menu bar music controller for Apple Music and Spotify.
